... and if I am correct you can still use the ESR that comes with a PI 7.1 system (if you have such system in the landscape) and not install it in CE ...

We actually had an error pointing that SLD was not installed, and then we found that it comes with ESR. After we installed ESR we could finish the wizard and then we finally did no have errors related to SLD.

The question remains... ESR is not mandatory, but it contains a component (SLD) that is mandatory!!!

Hi Hugo,

you can also install ESR on the CE system. It is not required to have a PI Installation.

ESR isn't mandatory if you aren't using SOA features (Registry, Modeling, Discovery) web services.
