Problem in Creating Controlling Area

Former Member

Hi all,

I am facing in problem while creating a Controlling area. Here client is proposing to have 3 company codes which will be assigned to single controlling area. At present one company code(1111) is created. Remaining two company codes(2222 & 3333) will be created later. One controlling area (1000) now needs to be created.

But while creating 1000 controlling area system is giving error like (Company code=controlling area). It allows me only to create controlling area named as 1111 which is same as company code. But I need to create controlling area named as 1000.

Please help me on this and let me know how can i do this.

Priya

When you first create the Co Area, select Cross-Company Code Controlling Area. It should work fine then.

Cheers.

Hello Ram,

Thanks for reply.

Can you please tell me, what is the standard practice in SAP :

1) To copy controlling area from existing 0001. (I tried copying from 0001 co area but could not)

2) Created new controlling area.

Please let me know. I will be helpful.

As a best practice, always create the Controlling Area afresh. There are a multitude of tables in the background that SAP creates whenever a new Co Area (or any Master Data object, for that matter) is created. You may inadvertently activate tables that may not be required for your scenario.

This especially applies to Plants. I have had a lot of grief working with Plants copied from existing plants.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
