hi,

may i know if import duty same as custom duty? if not then what is import duty?

Import Duties are of different types .. like

basic custom duty - BCD

countervailing duty - CVD

Ecess on CVD

SEcess on CVD

Ecess on BCD

SEcess on BCD

Additional duty on customs - ADC

Anti dumping duty

etc etc etc.......

We can claim Cenvat credit on CVD and ADC

Here CVD is taken as BED-basic excise duty

and ADC is taken as additional excise duty - AED
