Is it possible to increase material code length beyond 18 chracters. Please confirm

It is not possible to increase material code length beyond 18 char in standard SAP.

u cannot increase the max number of length of 18 characters,however u can minimize it thru OMSL.

another thing i have never tried is while increasing the number system gives an error:

The length of the material number must not exceed 18 characters

Message no. BMG222

if u can change the status of this message from error to warning,it maybe possible.but as i have said i haven't tried it ever

as per sap defined it is 18 char beyond that it is not possible.
