Hi friends,

What is the purpose of Material group in SAP with respect to MM. How to configure the same?

Hai,

It is used for only report purpose. No where it is assigned.Only in material master we will enter.U can create material groups in OMSF.

hi,

The material group is a grouping parameter that can be used to group materials that need similar materials. For example, material group 005 can group small parts that are to be packed in small packages.

The best example is for packing materials:

Material group packaging-material

You can maintain the material group packaging material for all materials that you want to pack. In other words, this field can be maintained for all materials. All other fields given here can only be maintained for packing materials (material type VERP).

So from the above example we can understand that is is important to differtiate the furthur use...via providing the above both the details the system can more precisely determine the account postings..

spro > LG>Mtrl grp --> Create Mtrl group...

HI,

The materials with the same characteristics are placed in the same material group.

In the abscence of material masters the material group can be utilised and the valuation class may be assigned to it so that wud help in the account deermination using the material grp.

To configure the same go to

SPRO--LOGISTICS GENERAL--MATERIAL GROUP-CREATE MATERIAL GROUP

Hi,

Material group is used for report purpose.

You can get report on material group base.

With help of material group you can get list of report.

Please check t-codes ME2M, ME2N,ME2C.

You can config material group with OMSF t-code.

Limit the scope of analyses

Systematically search for material master records via matchcodes

spro-logistic-general-material master-settings for key fields---define material groups

while creating Material master this will assign...
