MSA - installation without jre-check

Hello experts,

I've installed some msa-clients without chekcing the jre-versions,

because there is already Java 6 installed - and it seem to work.

But now I should know why there is a check for the JRE 1.4 in normal installation ?

Is java only used for the ipc in msa ?

Thanks Gerd

setup.exe SAP_JRE_VERSION=1 SKIP_JRE_CHECK=0

this will bypass all java checks.

Hello Gerd

No, JRE is not just only required for IPC.

ARSCentralServer which does locking mechanism for multiple users conencting to the same ARS repository, needs to JRE to run. Hence JRE is check is made in Installation.

Best regards

I am not positive about this buit I think that Java might be used for some other functionality as well (like surveys)

I think that there might be one other area...

If you are not using this type of functionality them it should not be a problem to not have it on the client
