Hi,

When the lead time of the operation exceeds the basic dates, system try to reduce the lead time of opeartion time by using reduction strategy.

This strategy reduce the lead time by following ways,

1. Reducing move time

2. Queue time

3. Overlapping (reduction in opn time)

4. Splitting (reduction in opn time)

In OPU5 & OPU3, reduction strategy is assigned. In this you can limit the system to use strategy upto six levels.

Ex: In production order Basic start date is 20.10.2008 & finish date 25.10.2008. But scheduled date 18.10.2008 & 25.10.2008

So sysem will try to reduce the lead time to match to basic dated by using reduction strategy.

Dear,

Reduction strategy is a keywhich specifies the strategy for reducing the lead time of an operation or activity. Scheduling reduces the lead time automatically if the basic dates given are not adhered to, that is if the scheduled dates lie outside the basic dates.

This strategy we need to assign it in the each operation and the reduction level as well. Again reduction can take place at operation level and the order level. For order level you need to enter the reduction parameters in the Scheduling parameters in OPU5. The reduction at operation level, takes the period, between the earliest start and the latest finish of an operation and at order level the period between the order start date and the order finish date.

Again for each reduction strategy, you can assign upto six reduction level. The reduction level defines the percentage of queue time to be reduced, whether reduction has to take place by split, by overlap or reduction of move time.

In T.code OPU3 you can see six boxes in below the reduction option. Here you can maintain different % eg: 10,20,30,50,75,100 % etc. When we choose reduction upto sixth level, the system will consider the value mentioned in the last box & reduction is carried out accordingly(for the floats as per schedule margin key)

Similarly you can create levels in t.code OPJS to reduce queue time, transport time etc.
