Better approachfor transition from SAP4.6c -SAPECC6.0 upgrd/implementation

Dear Experts,

Could anybody let me know which is better approach of transition from sap4.6c to ecc6.0.

1. Upgrade of SAP 4.6C to SAP ECC 6.0 or

2. Implementation of SAP ECC 6.0 with data and custom objects migration from SAP 4.6C.

It would be wonderful if you can give me the references of OSS notes for this purpose.

We are still on 4.6c from which we will do the upgrade to ERP 6.0 (within the next 2 years).

This should be the normal way.

However, if your existing system is full of modifications then you may think about to start with ERP 6.0 from scratch an do the migration of the data. Yet this is a far-reaching and very laborious decision which definitely requires Top-Management suppport because it not only affects your IT but even more your entire organization.

Upgrading to ERP 6.0 also means to consider Unicode. Thus, you may find the following document interesting as well:

Thanks so much for the document. I would like to know the pros and cons for transition from sap 4.6c to ecc 6.0 if we go for implementation of ecc6.0 rather than upgrade of sap 4.6c. Any reference OSS note for this is highly appreciated.
