Is WD4J a notch above WD4A?

Hello,

starting with programming in the field of sap I am wondering about the strategic direction of the different development environments and which is the one with the most value. I have seen some really nice outlook-like time tables in WD4J and I don't know if and when this will be in the WD4A environment also.

So why are you using WD4A if maybe WD4J is offering more features? Is WD4J more state of the art?

Looking forward for some discussion,

Vanessa

Hi Venessa,

Web Dynpro being a UI technology seems more powerful wit JAVA.

But with the architecture of SAP systems and the dependence on ABAP as the core language, it comes as an advantage to have the UI technology housed in the R/3 itself.

So I would say that both WD JAVA and ABAP have their own uses.

WDJ is more useful when u are making portal Iviews or tweaking something on the JAVA stack.

WDA is more powerful when u want the data from R/3 to be displayed and managed interactively using a portal.

There are various situations in which both the technologies are at pat like in XI, you can make use either technology to do things like making proxies and interfaces etc.

I hope I have given a good start :).

These are solely my views after working in both technologies for sometime.
