CRM 2007 Support packs

Hi,

I was asked an interview question today, which I apparently got wrong and now I'm trying to find the answer if anyone could help that would be great.

The question was, "On CRM 2007, how are support packs installed?"

My answer was "The ABAP stack is supported with transaction SPAM and the Java stack is supported with JSPM or SDM"

The followup question was, "On CRM 2007, what other way specific to CRM 2007 are support packs applied?"

Any input?

Lee

Add-ons releases are upgraded via SAINT and patched via SPAM... maybe that's what they were looking for.

Beside that your answer sounds perfectly good to me.

Hi,

Juan, I've caught you wrong on one single answer !

CRM 2007 is particular for ABAP support packages.

If you launch SPAM, you get this message :

"Use the special Support Package Manager for BBPCRM (see menu Environment)"

In the menu Environment, you find "Support Package Manager for EBP/CRM"

You can also launch it directly with "SP_MANAGER" transaction code.

In fact it is a wrapper transaction which adds controls and actions (lock users for example) before using SPAM for the real imports.

I think SP_MANAGER will spread in the future to all new relases of abap stack softwares.

Olivier
