Access Database

Hello,

I am trying to run a Crystal Report looking at an Access Database but am not getting any data back.

It has run successfully once but on every other attempt is freezing up (up to 30 minutes).

Is there any reason behind this? Am I missing anything simple?

This is the first time I have used Crystal with Access Databases.

Thank you,

Joe

Hi Joe,

How you are getting connected to Access Database? Through ODBC ?

Where the database is located ?

Are you pulling high volume of data into crystal reports ?

Try the following :

--Create new connection

--Select Access/Excel DAO

--Select the datbase and try to create a report.

Also try to create a report with xtreem sample database (It is in Access Database)

Thanks,

Sastry

Hi Sastry,

I've tried creating a new connection following your steps below. I had originally been connecting through Access/Excel.

The database is located on our j drive.and is 140 kb.

i have also created a report using the extreme sample database and this worked fine.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Is 'J' drive is a network driver ? If so, copy the database in your local Drive (c or d) and create a report.

I think this is a network problem.

Thanks,

Hi Sastry,

I've copied the database onto c drive but we get the same issues.

Looks like it may be how we have set up the database rather than anything to do with Crystal.

Thanks for your help,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Try with any sample access data base which is present.

If the connection with crystal report works fine then it would be a problem with your access data base.

I think it is a problem with your access .

Use simple ODBC connection to generate report.

Hi Joe,

If you can provide additional information such as:

- How are you connecting to the Access database?

- Which options are you choosing in Crystal Reports when you select your Access database?

- How many tables are you selecting when creating your report and how many records are in the database?

- Does the freezing happen to all reports based off of Access?

- What happens if you create a one table one field report?

Wallie

Also, in Crystal Reports, go to Database|Database Expert|Links... and check the linking.

Hey Joe,

It is simple as such to create a report with access data base. try to create a report with less amount of data.

Use simple odbc connection to create a crystal report

with access as data base.

Thanks,

Naveen.
