New abap editor woes -- how do I insert a line / lines into existing code

Hi Gurus

I can't seem to be able to insert single / a number of blank lines into code. Now since Line insertion and deletion is such a fundamental part of any text editor I MUST be doing something silly but I can't find out what I'm doing wrong.

I can Insert Pattern etc etc -- I don't want this -- I just want to add some extra lines to add / correct code.

Cutting and pasting blank lines seems overkill for this application

Any ideas anyone.

If I hust press ENTER after the line I want to insert the cursor just moves to the next line of code. It doesn't insert a blank line where I can type my code.

Cheers

Hmm, since it behaves like a text editor (it actually is one), can't you just hit enter a few times in a row (in INSERT mode!)?

Or are you still using the "old" backend ABAP editor?

Thomas

P.S. you're probably in OVERWRITE mode when trying?
