GWI Client Integration - Roadmap

Former Member

We've been looking at GWI both client and server-side integration. We were waiting for the ABAP MAPBOX rampup approval and we got word from SAP that there has been a great deal of recent development on the "Client-Side" integration. We are pursuing more information on the development direct and a possible roadmap for the product.

Have any of you heard of a revised roadmap for the GWI client integration.

Thanks,

Greg

With Client based GWI, you can synchronize bi-directionally your Contacts, Tasks, Appointments easily and quickly. You have also one-one e-mail integration.

I think this is something new, at least the part : "the way you do it & how easy it is".

New features

1.) Automatic synchronization, where end user do not need to initiate the sync manually. He can schedule it as task.

2.) IE8 supported, however Windows 7 is still under consideration.

3.) Centralized profile maintenance, all properties can be regulated centrally by administrator.

4.) single sign on, no need to enter use id and password.

Best Regards

Hmmm... interesting to hear that SAP is doing something for GWI - client-side (or any side). I have not seen anything different in CRM 2007. Well, I can say that we started to implement GWI in CRM 5.0 and never were able to make it work in the client environment. The browser security. AciveX, and the Microsoft CDO requirements for the client side was never agreeable to the customer. It worked in theory on a demo client with no security restrictions. ([D58 - Groupware Integration in Project Resource Planning (CRM))|http://help.sap.com/bestpractices/BBLibrary/documentation/D58_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_UK.doc]. Note of caution: Don't underestimate the implimentation, integration and middleware tasks.

Finally, we were able to deliver that in CRM 2007. The same functionality as in the earlier versions, nothing specially new.
