Java SP level linked to ABAP SP level ?

Hello

I installed a Java add-in to an existing ABAP ERP NW04 system.

Now I want to patch the JAVA stack upto the highest possible level. However I do not want to move-up the ABAP Support Package level (level 9)

Can I move JAVA stack up to most recent level (level 22) without patching the ABAP stack ?

Or are there restrictions / compatibility issues between the 2 stacks ?

Thanks

Jo

hello,

pls follow the link http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks and you will see

the patches for the support package stack (SPS).

-> on the left side you will see sp stack downloads and choose it

-> choose the product / usage type

-> a new window opens and here you can choose the support package stack either

as target or source release (this does not matter as you can exit at any point).

-> show stack information will show you the relevant patch numbers of both java

and abap

The ABAP and JAVA stack need to be on the same support package stack.

Kind regards,

Andreas

Hello,

I have in my landscape the BW system has different ABAP and JAVA SP levels

and it is working fine with out any issues.

So i think no need to update your ABAP components if you will update the J2EE.'

Thanks

Hi,

There is no absolute rule but it's a good idea to play it safe and to patch both stacks.

Yes, you need to patch both on same SP-STACK level,

it will works for different SP levels, but you will see

"produce incompatibility issues".. Try to find in notes, you will find some notes with enterys like this :

"Do not mix different version of ABAP & JAVA Basis, Netweaver Double stack must have same SP release "

Regards.
