I want to create item category which is related to Purchase order..any one can suggest to me..

go to SPRO - MM - Purchasing - Define External representation of item categories
Please note that you can only change the key and the description if required, but no changes to the controls can be made..

In purchasing term u cannot create a new item category.that provision is not present in std SAP.otherwise for others u can check the following link:

You Cannot Create Item Categories in Standard SAP. SAP hasnot Provided any Facility for this....
The features of the item categories are set as a default.It is only possible to change the text name (for example, 'Service') and the external representation (for example 'D'). You can set this in the purchasing Customizing (Transaction OLME) under 'Define External Representation of Item Categories
