Movement type:
When you enter a goods movement in the system, you must enter a movement type to differentiate between the various goods movements. A movement type is a three-digit identification key for a goods movement. The movement type is important because it controls the screen layout, adjustment of inventories, the GL account for financial purposes etc. Few of material movement types in SAP materials management MM looks like:

101 Goods receiving for ordering
104 Goods receiving blocking status for ordering
122 Return delivery to suppliers
201 Goods outflow (WA) to cost centers
221 Goods outflow to project
231 Goods outflow to customer order
241 Goods outflow to factory
251 Goods outflow to sales

Re-valuating the expired material - its depends on the business you are handling. For example in Food industries the expired material is to be Scrapped. In chemical industries expired material to be re-checked and basing on the results - its degraded or upgraded. In Paint industries the contents of raw material after expiry will be re-used in other grade production. In Equipment industry, there is no expiry of machinery, only not possible to usage, in this situation its scrapped or re-condition *** but this with valuation***. Like these its different basing on business.
