Force password change on MI Client initial logon

Hi all,

I'm working on a Mobile solution where the business wants to an initial password for all mobile users and let the users change the password on the first logon, R3-style. Is that possible?

Kind Regards,

Daniel

Hi,

If during the initial device rollout by your company, you are using Setup packages - You can obviouslly assign a default initial password for all the users (which is INITIAL, usually) which they have to change after the initial logon. This is R3 Style which I think you need.

And anytime during the operation of MI, if the administrator wants to force a local password change, he can simply use that parameter which Siva said in the mobile admin for that device (or device configuration) and next time the user syncs this property will be set in the mobileengine.config file and on the next restart of the device, the user will have to change the local logon passoword.

Hi Daniel,

Yes this is definitely possible. Kindly add the following parameter in the MobileEngine.config file present in the settings folder of the MI Client and then restart the client. This would then prompt user to change their local logon password after the first logon.

MobileEngine.Security.PasswordChangeRequired = true

Thanks for the quick reply. If we have set the

Will this change the synchronization password (SAP Web AS password) as well? Since we are using the same password for synching.

Kind Regards,

Daniel

Hi,

No. This will not change the Sync Password but will change the local password only.

So I guess there is no standard way of forcing a change of the the Sync password during initial logon.

Hello,

No the sync password is not handled by the client but by the middleware. You can also have MI not ask for the sync password, it will take the MI password as the sync password. A little less secure but users do not have to remember 2 passwords (both password should be the same and changing MI password will not change the middleware password in that scenario either).

Thanks,

Julien.
