Hi

My client wants to calculate the safety stock for raw materials based on my future requirements(PIRs) of Finished Products.I don't want to use dynamic safety stock because it plans for excess quantity.I want to update the material master safety stock field.

Hi Kannan,

I have seen consumption period changes using batch job for this purpose. It will update the material master to acheive what you have said but i see this mainly for FGs.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Dynamic safety stock = Range of Coverage X Avg daily reqmts

Refer Links below for details:

Hi,

Dyanamic safety stock determination is applicable for MRP type PD.

During MRP, the dynamic safety stock will be considered for arriving at requirements.

Refer [This|; thread and go thru Ranges of coverage info tree in link below:

Hi,

I forgot to mention one point. For Automatic safety stock calculation in PD you have to check the safety stock box in MRP type definition. By default, it is not checked in PD.

However do this if only all the material in your plant need this. Else Create a new MRP type copying PD and check safety stock.

Dear,

In Material Master under MRP2 View-> Under Net Requirement calculation -> you can maintain safety stock Qtyalong with MRP type PD

After maintaining it system will take care for the safety stock. You will find it in MD04 screen.whenever stock falls below this level system will generate Procurement to recover the less qty.

For example you have define Safety stock 500 kg for material X.

Available stock is 100 kg.

Dependent requirement is 200 kg.

Then during Next MRP run (Not automatically) system will generate

PR for 600 kg (500kg +200kg -100kg ).

OMDQ automatic calculate safety stock for your MRP type PD.

Hi,

You have Forecast based plainning option only in CBP. But even here it considers forecast at the same material level, not at FG level.

But your requirement is complicated since a raw material may be used in more than 1 FG and forecasts of all the FG's need to be considered. But indirectly this happens because the system should be considering gross requirements for ADR (i am 90% sure abt this, you have to try out and confirm). When gross reqmts are considered, the forecasts of all the FG's the material is used in is also considered right?.

Also Material master safety stock updation happens only in Automatic reorder point scenario which is a CBP, I donot think that option is available for general MRP.
