FPN (Federated Portal) and WPC (Web Page Composer)

Hi all,

We implemented various web sites based on WPC (Web Page Composer) and now we need to federate this instance with other consumer nodes.

I read on SAP 880842 note that it's not possible to federate WPC.

Is there any options to federate sites developed in WPC?

What can I do in this scenario?

Thanks!

Hi Ricardo,

if it isn't possible to federate web pages, you could try my idea to federate web pages:

1. Create web sites and web pages

2. Go to the PCD and create iViews, that visualize the web pages

(do you know how to create web pages, that visualize web pages?)

3. Now you could federate those iViews, because they are in the PCD.

I am not completely sure, if this works. But i guess, the chances are good:)

Hi Marcus

Thanks for your fast reply.

How can I create iViews based on WPC web sites or web pages?

Which template should I choose?

Tks again.

Hi Ricardo,

sorry for the late reply.

you must perform the following steps:

1. Create an iView based on the portal component: com.sap.nw.wpc.runtime

2. In your iView have a look at the propertys in the category: Web Page Composer. There you will find the property: RID of Compound Document.

3. In this property you have to enter the destination of your web page. This link should look like this: /wpccontent/Sites/MyWebSite/WebPages/MyWebPage

(You can copy this link by clicking on your web page and clicking on Copy Path .)

Thanks again Marcus.

But we can't use this option because we'll loose the WPC structure... It will need to be rebuild all site navigations...

We are working now with WPC content mirror (copying content from one server to another).

But we still need some help. We need to automatic copy KM content. Can you help us in this case too?

I opened a thread at this link:

Yeah, you are right.

But i am doing it that way. Using the WPC to build those iViews. And in the PCD i am building the navigation structure. I just like it more that way.

I am sorry but i won't be able to help you on your KM transportation problem. I am doing it manually:)

I just had an additional look at [sap-help|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/46/7649426fd759dbe10000000a1553f6/content.htm].

There something is written about automatic transports. Isn't it that your are looking for?

I'd already seen this page. I had studied about CTS and ICE methodology...

But I was noticed that ICE methodology doesn't works... I don't know why...

I tryed to implement, but I got some HTMLB error...

And I don't know if I can use CTS because it needs to use XI (PI) to implement it.

Hi Marcus,

long time ago, but the thread is important for us.

I followed your instructions and created WPC runtime iViews for each of my WPC pages.

But if I want to publish them into the federated portal, only the first iView is visible.

Any ideas about this?

Thx and Rgds,

Andreas

Hello,

Is this limitation still valid ?

I can't find the SAP note explaining this ...
