Hi All,

Please let me know if there is any functionality difference if the PR release strategy code/prerequisite is configured in below fashion 1 & 2. If yes then please throw some light on the same.

The following table shows release prerequisites for a strategy with six release codes.

Code/Release prerequisite

S1 S2 S3 T2 T3 T4

S1 - [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]

S2 [x] - [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]

S3 [x] [x] -[ ] [ ] [ ]

T2 [ ] [ ] [ ] -

T3 [ ] [ ] [ ] [x] - [ ]

T4 [ ] [ ] [ ] [x] [x] u2013

S1 S2 T2 S3 T3 T4

S1 - [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]

S2 [x] - [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]

T2 [ ] [ ] - [ ] [ ] [ ]

S3 [x] [x] [ ] -

T3 [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] - [ ]

T4 [ ] [ ] [x] [ ] [x] -

In this release strategy, the codes S1, S2, S3, and T2 are the release codes for the purchase order.

Please find the std SAP functionality details. Hope you will get some base idea on prerequisite which I need help.

Please find the details std SAP functionality -Release prerequisite codes

Create a release strategy for your release group and assign your release codes accordingly. Release prerequisites With the release prerequisites, you specify the order in which the individual release points (individuals or departments) represented by the release codes may release the document.

Example The following table shows release prerequisites for a strategy with four release codes.

Code/Release prerequisite

01 02 03 04

01 - [ ] [ ] [ ]

02 [x] - [ ] [ ]

03 [x] [x] - [ ]

04 [x] [x] [x] -

In this release strategy, the codes 01, 02, 03, and 04 must successively release the purchase order. Read the table from left to right. For instance, the third line for release code 03: For code 03, release via code 01 and code 02 is a prerequisite. That is to say, the PO must be released via codes 01 and 02 before it can be released via code 03. Release statuses Here you specify the status a PO has after certain release points have effected release. Specify which release indicator/status a PO is to have after having been released via a certain release code. Classification In classification, you maintain the values assigned to the characteristics. Via the characteristics and their values, you specify the POs to which your release strategy is assigned. Maintain values (individual values or intervals) for your characteristics.

The only difference is 01,02,03,04 are replaced with S1,S2,S3,T2,T3....

Any pointer will be grateful.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

There won't be any functionality difference, if you shuffle the release codes in the release prerequisites. Only the combinations you get in the Release Statuses will vary, depending on your check boxes in the Pre-requisites.

The approval procedure for purchase order in an enterprise may be set up in such a way that an employee must approve a purchase order item before the next level of authority (e.g. say the manager). But, In your case, approval by the S release codes have no connection/ link with the approval by the T release codes.

If you are thinking of defining alternative release also, this sequencing is not correct. Because in alternative release, several employees can effect release (signify approval) at a certain point in the sequence. If just one of these employees has effected release, the next release status is reached. The other employees thus need take no action.

An alternative release cannot be a prerequisite for the next release code.

When a requisition or an external purchasing document has been processed via a release code, a release indicator is assigned to it (in the release strategy via the release statuses). Whether the purchasing document is released for transmission or not is controlled by Release Indicators. The box with the information on the release strategy also offers you the possible alternatives for selection. In the box provided in the release statuses, you can control the release by specifying the relavent Release indicator for the combination of Release codes.

Hope, this helps.

Regards,

Narayana.
