Hi
1 XI is a middleware that provide open XML format using SOAP or HTTP protocol communication b/w A2A and B2B. XI understand only XML.
2 Adapter is used to Convert message in application format, like if message is coming from R/3 to Xi then adapter convert message in XML format and viseversa.
3 IR is used for design message structure and mapping. where ID is used for message routing.
4 Technical and business System: Business System is a logical rep of a Technical System. Technical system can be a physical machine, it have a IP. Can be a ERP, J2EE etc. A Business System is a logical term that we use into the Business Scenarios and represent these Technical System that we had created.
5 Product and SWC:You create the SWC in SLD, import them to Integtration Repository. SWC itself are arranged in products. So, a product can have 1-n SWC. It stands for a deliverable unit. You should design a SWC as something belonging to a system and indeed you can associate products/ SWC to a business system. This control the selecting of interfaces at configuration time.
6 Integration Server: components of the Intergration Server like BPE, Integration Engine and Adapter Engine
The Integration Server runs and depends on the SAP Web Application Server. Most parts of the Integration Server run within the ABAP part but mapping is realized in Java. The mapping part is a registered RFC server that runs within the J2EE part using JCO.
The Integration Engine routes the messages and performs the necessary mappings.
The BPE is responsible for the execution of the Integration Process
The Adapter Engine deals with the message flow in XI. The AE is based on the integrated J2EE of the SAP WAS. It allows for central configuration and monitoring of all adapters, even those that r installed de-centrally. AE includes its own security, message processing and message queuing.
7 Message Interface: In XI a Message Interface is the highest level representation of XML metadata. We create data type and then message type. To provide a wrapper over message type we use message interface, where we also specifies that what will be its mode of communication such as Synchronous and Asynchronous and direction either as Inbound or Outbound
8 XI Component :
ABAP Stack:
a) Integration Engine
b) Integration Server
c) Business Process engine
JAVA Stack:
a) IR
b)ID
c)SLD
d) RWB
