Dear,

Planning File creates all the materials relevant for the planning run.

The planning run and the scope of the planning run (which materials are planned in which planning run) are controlled by the planning file.

For planning file entry use the following transactions,

MD20 : Create planning file entry

MD21 : Display planning file entry

MDAB : Set up planning file entry in background

MDRE : Check planning file entry

All materials assigned with MRP are automatically entered in planning file entry.

Depends on changes in material planning or in proposal , system will create planning file entry.

When MRP run system will consider only which materials having entry in above contents of planning file entry.

Hope it will help you to understand basic concept.

Hi,

You assume Materials relevant to next MRP in the system will be maintained in a file. That is Planning file in SAP (in Back ground).

so whenever the position of either stock or requirement is changed for one material, system take its entry in the planning file. This is called planning file entry (which is automatic by background program)

So first time if u create MRP views for any material, automatically systemshould take its entry in Planning file. But some times it would not happen. Then create manually the Planning file entry for that material in MD20.

I hope it is clear.

Kiran.

Hi,

When you create a material with MRP views system will create a planning file entry.

Planning file entry contains,

1. MPS

2. Reset for Order proposal

3. NETCH

4. NETPL

5. Explode BOM.

Depends on MRP element changes, system will create indicator in planning file entry.

Use tcode MD20 to see the planning file entry for a material. Running MRP first time for a plant, activating planning file entry is necessary.

When a MRP related element changes ie, date & qty, system create a planning file entry. It will make a indicator in depends on changes. When MRP run, system will check the planning file entry for a material corresponding to that it will paln for that material.

Hi,,

Planning file entry is the first step of the MRP run. The material which is included in the planning file only take part in the next MRP run.

Normally if a material is created with relevant MRP views it is automatically included in the planning file. Before that MRP should be activated in the customizing.

Suppose there is a req for a material today is 100 and subsequently after running the MRP it will create the order proposal according to your stock. After that if there is no change for the material like other requirements and inventery adjustment like stock changes , no planning file for that material .

So it will not be included in the next planning run.

Hope it clear your doubts

HI

In planning file entries you marked material for MRP run for specific type. Some times if planning file entries are not done then system will only generate dependent requirement but system may not generate planned order for the same dependent requirement.

MRP related changes like goods movement will mark material as MRP relavent and will paln it according to key you select on MD02 screen . ( NETCH , NETPL , NEUPL)

Checking planning file entry by T code MD20 , 21 and 23 .
