In SAP r/3 there is infinite scheduling and in APO you have option of Finite scheduling

inFinite scheduling will not consider plant capacity .

For example if you have 100 planed orders for todays date and if you put more 100 then system will schedule them by considering only inhouse prod time and it will not consider plant available capacity .

Say you can only produce 100 PC a day and you get more 100 PC order then you have to reschedule them for tomorrow considering your capacity . But this wont happen in R/3 . It will consider capacity is infinite .

IN APO system will consider plant capacity and schedule the order . Finite scheduling .
