hi,

The transportation lead-time is the time in days that is needed to organize the shipping of the goods. This might include booking a ship and reserving a truck from a forwarding agent. It is defined for a route.

The transportation scheduling deadline is the date on which you must start to organize the transportation of the goods. This deadline must be selected early enough to ensure that the means of transport is available by the loading deadline.

Hope its clear now...

Hi,

Thanks for the explanation of Transportation lead time. My concern is we have suddenly reduced the lead time by 5 days. So we are not sure what will happen to our PO delivery dates and MRP calculations for existing datau2019s.

Please advice meu2026.

Thanks,

Hi

While calculating the requirements ,decreased lead time (30 days) will be considered for order quantity& safety stock calculation.Hence you have reduced your lead time, proportionally the order qty & safety stock qty will be reduced.

Hi

It wont have effect on the existing Open PO's & delivery dates in the PO.

During MRP run the requirements & safety stock qty will be reduced in proportion to the reduced lead time.

Please find the details of sample calulation.

days 1months inventory Ratio for 1 month

New Lead Time 35 30 1

Old Lead Time 30 30 1.166666667

safety stock= 5 New Min stock= 11.66666667(will be rounded based on rounding qty)

Min stock= 10 New safety stock=5.833333333 (will be rounded based on rounding qty)

Hope you will get some idea .

Hi,

Planned delivery time: Lead time which was discussed earlier with sample calculation.

Planned Delivery date: Delivery date will be triggered automatically in PO, based on the Planned delivery time which we discussed.

Please find the detail of a sample calculation, how the planned delivery date will behave.

Lets assume the delivery time & the scenario in PO

Planned delivery time 110 15-Oct-08 - Today date ( PO creation date)

2-Feb-09 - Delivery date triggered in PO

Planned delivery time 115 15-Oct-08 - Today date ( PO creation date)

7-Feb-09 - Delivery date triggered in PO

Hi,

According to your example, if we created a PO on 15-Oct-2008 with the effect of old planned delivery time (115 days) the delivery date should appear as 7-Feb-2009. And today (16-Oct-08) we are changing the planned delivery time to 110 days. In that case how the delivery date is going to be in the old PO which was created yesterday? Will it be 2-Feb-2009 or 7-feb-2009??

Please advice meu2026

Thanks & regards,

Hi ,

Since you have created the PO already , it will have the old date only ie 7-Feb-2009.

Only for future PO's the date will be 2-Feb-2009, ie PO's created after 16-Oct-08.
