Saving a BEx 7.0 report on Unix server

I want to set-up a daily back ground job, which should be able to execute a BI 7.0 query and save the reporting out-put as an excel file on server.

Please note that I don't want to save as a CSV file. It should be only excel file.

We don't have BEx Web / Broadcaster / Reporting Agent installed.

Is there an alternate way ?

You can use RSCRM_BAPI but then it sould be a CSV file - any particular reason you want it to be XLS ? because XLS will have the formatting but the CSV will have the contents.

Else you can have a program that takes the query and runs it using RS_INFOPROV_READ or an equivalent program and stores the data in an internal table and stores the same as XLS in the application server...
