Type of Account (B/S or P&L)

Dear Friends,

Our Chart of Accounts is maintained as follows:

Starting 1 - all liablity accts

Starting 2 - all asset accts

Starting 4 - all revenue accts

Starting 5 - all expense accts

I open a new expenditure acct, (FS00), using the correct account group, but erroneously choose the B/S a (radio button) instead of P&L Account (radio button)

It allows me to save the new account.

Is there any setting whereby system won't allow me to save the new account unless I choose the correct radio button.

Unfortunately, there is no such setting. When you create account groups in transaction OBD4, you give the group a name and a from acct & to acct. Subsequently when you are creating a GL a/c., system just checks whether the GL acct number falls in the acct no. range of the acct grp you choose when creating the account.

Hi

Check your accoupt group settings. (OBD4). Please ensure you have given an account number range (from and to). Keep the number range different for each group.

Now Go to FS00 and give the account number you want to create. Then if the number does not fall within the particular range (say P&L range or Balance Sheet range) system would show an error forbidding you the creation in a wrong category.
