can anybody tell how to create BOM, explain me in configuration step, (item category ERLA- is Header level and LUMF is item level, along with item category is TAQ, TAE, TAN TAP,) i would like to know the part of the configuration step wise, bit breif

hello, friend.

1. normally, in SAP standard, the settings for item category group ERLA and LUMF, and item categories TAQ, TAE, TAP and TAN will already have been set. nevertheless, you will make sure that entries for the field 'structure scope' in t-code VOV7 should be 'A' for TAQ and TAP.

2. again, in SAP standard, assignment of sales docs, item category groups and item categories will also be done. do check in IMG > SD > Sales > Sales Docs > Sales Doc Item > Assign Item Categories; that you have set assignments for sales doc type + item category group (ERLA or LUMF) + usage + higher level item (TAQ for ERLA, TAP for LUMF) + default item category (TAE for TAQ, TAN for TAP).

3. when you create material master records for materials, the BOM higher level material should have item category group ERLA or LUMF. the components can have item category group NORM (and perhaps ZAMS).

4. if you define your own sales docs, item category groups and item categories, just follow the above logic and assignments.

5. coordinate with MM and/or PP to enable material type and other organizational units in plant.

6. lastly, make sure you make BOM condition record for material using CS01.

BILL OF MATERIAL

The Material Ordered, Delivered and Billed consists of one or Several Components.

These components are called as Bill Of Materials

The Material Ordered by the Customer is referred as Main Item or Higher Level item. The Components are referred as Sub-items.

When we enter the Main-item in the Sales documents, the Components are automatically determined and this is called as expansion of Bill Of Materials.

In SD, we treat the processing of Boms in two ways.

Processing at Main-item.

Processing at the Sub-item

The Processing in both cases is controlled by the Item Categories and Schedule line Categories.

Step: 1

Prepare the Martial Master for all the Materials, which is main-item and Sub-item.

In the Material Master, the Item Category group of the Main-item is important.

We need to Maintain the item category group for the Main-items and sub-items as follows.

Scenario Main-Item Sub-Item

Processing at ERLA NORM

Main-item level

Processing at LUMF NORM

Sub-items

Item Category TAQ TAE

Schedule line CP CT

Step: 2

Let us take Computer as a Bom. It has Varies parts like Mouse, keyboard, Motherboard, Ram, CPU.

Let us take Computer has the main-item, and sub-item as the rest.

Prepare Material Master. We have to Prepare Material Master for Main-item and Sub-items.

T-Code: MM01

First Prepare for Computer which is the Main-item.

In Sales: General/Plant. Maintain ERLA in the Item Category Group

Then Create and Save the Material Master

Step: 3

Create Material Master for the Sub-item. That is for Keyboard, Mouse,

Motherboard, Ram & CPU.

In Sales: General/Plant. Maintain NORM in the Item Category Group

Similarly Create Material Master for the rest of the Sub-item and SAVE

Step: 4

Create Material Bom.

T-Code: CS01

Then Continue

Step: 5

Create Condition Record.

T-Code: VK11

Maintain Pricing for only the Main-item.

Now create Sale order.

As we all know, Computer is the combination of " Monitor,CPU,keyboard,Mouse"

Here CPU consists, Harddisk,MotherBoard,Processor,Ram etc..,

Computer is the Mainitem

Monitor,CPU,keyboard,Mouse are all subitems for Mainitem.

Subitem CPU again contains,Items.

This kind of material is known as Multi BoM,

Simply, BoM with in the BoM is Multi BoM.

If you want config this into SAP,

first u need create Computer as Main Item-(item car group- ERLA,if u want to give price on material Level).

Create Monitor,CPU,keyboard,Mouse,Harddisk,MotherBoard,Processor,Ram

as subitems( Item cat group- NORM,but for CPU Item cat group- ERLA)

Now Create BoM, CS01- Computer Include Monitor,CPU,keyboard,Mouse as subitems,

again create BoM,CS01- CPU include Mouse,Harddisk,MotherBoard,Processor,Ram as subitems for CPU mainitem.

In Config: of Item Catergory VOV7 Change the Structure scope from "A - explode single level BoM" to "B - Explode Multi Level BoM" for Item Cat: TAQ & TAP.

Create Sales order for Mainitem Computer:

all the items will be displayed as subitems incluse Mouse,Harddisk,MotherBoard,Processor,Ram.
