WebSAPConsole setup/configuration

In the past, I setup sapconsole successfully connecting to our SAP R/3 4.6C system.

However, the project got dropped.

We are now in the process of evaluating WebSAPConsole to enable RF devices to access SAP via a wireless network.

I've installed SAP GUI version 640 patch level 8 and sapconsole on a windows 2003 server running IIS.

I then patched SAP Gui to 6.40 patch level 11.

I've read through the forms that you don't need SAP's WebAS server to run WebSAPConsole and that the configuration I’ve installed is ok.

See

For the configuration of IIS with WebSAPConsole, I followed the instructions as outlined in WebSAPConsole Installation Guide for SAP GUI Version 6.40 section 4.6 Configuring IIS. I have followed to the letter all 11 steps there.

I've read in this form that due to enhance security in Windows2003 server that performance is poor. But that's ok now for our testing.

I've set up in a single connection to our SAP DEV R/3 system via the sap logon pad and I can launch SAP GUI and connect to our R/3 development successfully.

In the SAP Console administrator I've set up the connection tab with the Host Name,Router and System id for our R/3 Dev system. I set this to the default connection.

At the windows command prompt if I launch sapcnsl.exe I do indeed get a text logon window to our R/3 DEV system.

Now for the http connection.

If I launch IE 6 on the host where sapgui/sapconsole is installed and point my browser to http://localhost/sap/isapi_sapcnsl.dll I get a

prompt box that states Connect to localhost with entry box for user name/password.

I put my user credentials in and then hit ok I get the http 404 error "The page cannot be Found".

Does anyone know what I am misunderstanding here?

Thanks

Hi Stephen!

(1)I understand you have set up the connection parameters correctly.Do you have the start up transaction defined correctly in the WebSAPCosole administrator?

(2)Is the Optional LogOn Screen & SAP Logon Selection checkboxes UnChecked under the Connection Tab.

Let me know.

Thx

Wow! thanks for the fast response.

(1) I have transaction SM04 set up in the WebSAPConsole Administrator under the connection tab. When I run sapcnsl.exe at the command prompt and login to SAP sure enough that's the transaction that runs.

(2) Neither the Optional logon Screen nor the SAPLogon Selection boxes are checked.
