can i maintain safety stock for a MTO material.

Deepu,

I will add to Jaiswin's answer. Any stock that you generate using this feature will not be relevant for any sales order. You will have to convert the stock to Sales order relevant stock before you can actually use it for ATP, or sell it to a customer.

In APICS terms, Safety stock is generally considered to be incompatible with MakeToOrder business scenarios.

Hi,

You can use safety stock in MTO .

System will consider this safety stock, if unrestricted stock is less than the safety stock level, system will create planned order.

You can convert this unrestricted stock into sale order assigned stock & it can be deliver.

Yes, u can maintain Safety stock for MTO,

Ganerally if u are using MTO than no need to maintain Safety stock but if u want u can.
