Quality Inspection of Intermediate material

Former Member

Hi All,

Can any body help me to have inspection for Intermediate material.

The scenarion is as follows:

*This is a process industry.

while processing raw material, some intermediate materials are created in the process.

These materials are NON stock items (NON valuated).

These are not the part of BOM.No routing is defined for them.*

Routing and BOM is maintained for Semifinish material.

There is a requirement of quality Inspection of these intermediate materials, after every 2 hours.

Please tell me, how can the inspection lot be generated and how the inspection will be recorded with Time reference ?

What masters are needed for this requirement ?

Thank you.

Hi GNK,

Your process there is no Intermediate stage with item code, But you want inspect the stage.

Option1:

1. So for that You have to create one intermediate item code with Quality view only and assign 89 Inspection Type.

2. Create Inspection plan with Inspection point as 150 Time based.

3. Now you can create manual inspection lot for the intermediate stage and do the inspection every 2hrs.

Option2

Follow calibration cycle.

1. Create equipment for Intermediate stage.

2. Create maintenance plan for every 2hrs.

3. System will automatically create the inspection lot @ every 2Hrs.

Revert for further clarification.

Hi Babuji,

I found your solution being useful for me with the first option.

Thanks a lot.

Hi

Just an idea.....

When you processing raw material to produce Semifinshed, you are producing intermediate, for this you need some process/prod order... you need routing/master recipe should be assigned for this prod.order

In routing for Semifinished material process ,you have multiple operations,,

in one of the operation that intermediate material wil be produced...

1. 03 inspection type active in Material master of Raw material

2. Routing header assign Inspection point Eg. 150(inspection point)

3. Assign the control key which have inspection characteristic in the operation in which intermediate material produced

4. operation detail define inspection @ every 2hrs

5. create and release production order

6. Record the result and make UD

Note:- 03 inspection is non-stock relevent so stock posting tab will not visible during UD

Try and come back ,if you need further detail

Thanks

Sami

Hi Sami,

I will elaborate the process in detail.

This is a Sugar industry.

step 1: Sugarcane is crushed to give primary juice and baggasse1.

step 2: water is added to baggasse and again crushed to give secondary juice and baggasse2.

step 3: Primary juice and sec. juice are mixed to give mixed juice.

In the SAP system:

There is a direct Backflush (Repetitive Mfg. cycle) made for Mixed juice, wherein GR is made for Mixed juice and GI is made for sugarcane and water.

In the BOM of Mixed Juice, we cannot maintain primary juice and secondary juice.

Primary juice and secondary juice are nonvaluated materials.

Inspection is to be recorded for these two juices, that too for every 2 hours. There is no routing , no BOM for these materials.

GR cannot be done for the same.

I think now you have a complete feel of the process.

I am stuck up over here.

Thanks

Hi,

mixed juice is your product, Correct? For this you must have created the Routing and BOM, OK?

Now In the Routing for this you should modify your routing for "mixed juice" as per below instructions.

- Add operations, where you should attach the MICs for Primary and Secondary Juice tests.

- As soon as the order for "mixed juice", will released it will trigger an inspection lot (03) which will have the MICs for RR of Primary and Secondary juice tests.

- Now to repeat it at every two hr you can.....................................

- 1. Insert as much as Operations in your routing itself according to the pre-calculations for the time Vs Number of Very two hr inspections for the lot size of the Order/routing. So the routing will have such operations like {Inspection at 2hr, Inspection at 4hr.....}

- 2. Keep only one operation in the routing and You can use the Further inspection facility, in the inspection lot it self. as many times you wish.

- 3. Refer the link to trigger [time base inspection|;.

Best Of Luck

Shyamal.

One more thing I would like to add is you can add these two materials, Primary Juice and Secondary Juice, in the BOM of "mixed juice", with item category N - Non-stock item

Hi Shyamal,

Thanks a lot.

Here I can not go for any Production order for Mixed juice.

Repetitive Mfg. is being used.

But, any way I can have Inprocess inspection for Mixed Juice with 13 Insp. type

Atlest I came to know about the usage of 150 Inspection type.

Thanks and regards.

Hi Sami,

Thanks for your immediate answer.

But, that would not be suitable for me.

Hi,

Yes you can do exactly as sami is directing you, if you are conducting this inspection over the Intermediate, as in process inspection. And for this particular phases in the recipe, don't maintain any SS-FS relations, so it will not interrupt any other process.

So let us know, hoe exactly this inspection is being done.

Shyamal
