Requirement class

Hi PP Experts,

Can anybody tell me what is exact role of Requirement class & Requirement type in planning strategy.I have read SAP library.But even not that much clear.please help.

Hi Raja,

Before you ask these questions, I recommend that you use the search to find the answer yourself and then ask more detailed questions when you have them. That would be more interesting (for other users) and prevents the people who just copy&paste and provide links-to-some-strange-documentation which they do not (necessarily) understand.... from answering.

When people answer over and over again with such answers to basic questions, then it soon makes a mess of the search when someone wants to get some real help or information out of SDN by useing the search. And attracts more people who just spew out links and copy&pasted documentation.

Don't you think that is almost the end of the world? Are we going backwards on our planet????

You are almost an enabler for clogging up the whole world (from the view of this forum) (...no offense!! think about it...).

Now... lets take a closer look at the folks who answer your questions... That is often the other half of the coin which (too late) recognized that they are repeating themselves over and over again.....

We need to get the noise down!!! Do you agree? Otherwise, special-things... mystical-things... non-delete-things... will not happen!!! (or you will not be allowed to know about them!!).

The problem is that people often follow noise or at least listen to it for long enough that it sinks in ... it kills independent thought.

Fear of independent thought, is one of the main causes of folks fearing the search here at SDN...hell... it only has answers!!! What are you scared of? Yourself?

Please help us improve the quality of the forums by thinking about both the question, and the answer... and then you can go bananas afterwards with cool ideas...:-)))

In MRP strategy, requirement type is combination with requirement class. When we use a mrp strategy, we can see that the PIR requirement type and customer requirement type. It is used to how to run MRP and how to consumpe the requirement.

Hi,

Requirement type ans Requirement Class decide the way PIRs and CIRs be treated by system. The requirement Class is assigned to Strategy which in turn is assigned to Strategy Group. This strategy group is assigned to material through Material master.

The requirement type decides whether the "transfer of requirement", "availability check", etc. needs to be done for the Sales order. There are 2 ways by which the requirement type is determined for the Sales order item.

1. Through Strategy group.

2. Requirement type determination through combination of "Item Category" & "MRP Type". Here, itself the priority between these 2 types is set.

SAP provides standard requirement type and classes. One can create the tyep and class depending on the need.

Requirement Class determines following things:

Transfer of requirements

Availability Check

Assembly

Special Stock, etc.

Hi,

Requirements class doing major role in planning strategy. These functions are,

1. Consumption of Ind requirement & customer requirement

2. How warehouse stock taken into account

3. Make to stock or Make to order

4. Planned order can be released or not

5. Req distribution.

This req class is assigned with requirement type. This demand req type & customer requirement type assigned in strategy.

Max of seven strategy grouped in strategy group. This group is assigned in material master MRP3 view.

Ex. Strategy10.

Requirement class 100. This is linked with req type LSF.

This req type LSF & cus req type KSL linked with strategy (10).

This strategy linked with strategy group. Group is assigned in material master.
