BI-Integrated planning: activating data slice from planning function

Hi,

Is it possible to trigger data slice activation/de-activation from within the planning function (formula type? user exit?)?

I was thinking that if it is possible, I would use that planning functions/sequence in the status switch of STS application when the user send his/her plan for approval to the next level, so that data slice gets activated and freezes those records.
