MaxDB Database Instance hangs on startup

Former Member

Hi,

I have my AS-java server running on MaxDB.

On system re-boot the MaxDB service fails to start. In the detailed message (Windows event viewer) it says MaxDB: J2E hung on start up.

MaxDB version is 7.7 and build is 24 and OS is Win2k3 R2 32 Bit.

There is enough memory (both physical and virtual) on the server. Also the log volume size is large and they are set to overwrite mode. I have no back-ups or archiving for this instance yet.

I have a ABAP instance running on the same config and that comes up with no issues.

Friends can you please give me some pointers to this issue.

Additionally how can I see the MaxDB logs when the system starts up.

Thank you,

CD

Hi,

as you seem to be a SAP customer, please file an OSS ticket.

Hi, need more informations to help you:

What where the last changes you made before reboot?

Did you add any Volume to the Database?

What is the state of the database now? (either to find with DBStudio or with console using User "db_state"

Did you simply try to start it again?

Hello,

Login to Database manager GUI and from there you checks for logs. (select Checks --> diagnosis files) or check for your rundirectory variable setting and go to the location and view knldiag.err, knldiag

you can even start the database in admin mode.
