How you will check whether database is active or not from OS level? - --

Just we can check this with sqlplus.....R3trans will give us only the connectivity between database and SAP....In BRTOOOLS aslo one option to check the same that is starting/stopping database...but this is the long process than sqlplus.....

R3trans -d,, command for wether DB is up or not
in 00 -- indicates DB is connected
12 -- it indicate error..

R3trans -d gives the connectivity to the sap to DB, to check Db is active check the status of Db processers are they running or not and check listner service too. you can also check the status of DB with the help of sapdba/brtools.
