How to translate texts in the WD-application

Former Member

Hi!

There is several UI elements with texts set through the property editor. It works fine when the application is started in the language in which it was created. But when the application is started in other languages, there is only GUID's instead of texts.

How to translate my application in other languages? The Goto->Translation menu is disabled for the WD application.

Thanks!

Hi,

You need to make use of the OTR concept to overcome this internationalization problem in Webdynpro. Once you create the desired OTR text (TCODE SOTR_EDIT) you can then maintain the translations in desired languages. You can make use of the standard function module sotr_api_wb_translate for the translation procedure.. In the call to the FM enter your source & target language and PGMID = LIMU, OBJECT = WDYV & OBJNAME = <name of WDA component> (you can use % here as a wildcard). After giving all these import parameters it would go to a screen(Translate from & to &) where it would show all the custom text OTRs we had created . It would also have an input field for the selected custom OTR text. This is where you put the translation for that OTR text. Also try go through this [thread|] for more information. Hope that this helps resolve your problem.

One more question: how to translate application header which is displayed in the header of the IE?

Have you found the answer? I'm trying to do the same thing to no avail...there seems to be no access to application translation from SE63 neither from SE80. If you try to modify it logged in in another language it forces you to switch to master language previously...

Thanks and regards

You can translate the application description using SE63 --> Translation --> ABAP Objects --> Transport Object

Enter

R3TR WDYA <<your application name >>

and choose edit
