Getting a universe back

Here is the scenario:

Couple of critical universes belonged to an XIR2 deployment on Server1. There were some issues with the upgrade so the XIR2 had to be uninstalled from the server. Before the uninstall, Repository and Filestore were backed up along with a BIAR file backup. XI3.0 was installed on the same server.

Now, how can I get the universes from the XIR2 deployment without having to do a side by side install of XIR2?

I have tried importing from the .biar file but the .biar file import errors out. I can't use XI3.0 designer to open those universes in my local drive. I can't open those universes using another XIR2 deployment because it says it belongs to a different CMS...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your response! I'll try this and will let you know. I do not have the connection, but I assume I can create the connection once I get the univese.
