SEM Hierarchy issue

Hi Bw Sem Experts,

we have on our project a particular requirement.

On a Sem Bps Layout, user want to write a value on a hierarchy node (2 characteristics herarchy) and copy that value on all leaf under it by using an automatic function.

He also wants to modify values on leafs without changing the result on top node.

Does someone have any idea?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Alessandro

Hi,

Follow these steps:

1. Create a hierarchy in BW on the characteristic on which you want to plan.

2. Navigate to Planning Level or Package, choose selection field and press the hierarchy button.

3. Choose hierarchy and select the node from which you would like to use the hierarchy in layout.

4. In Layout builder push the 'Hierachy' button on top right corner on the 1st screen.

5. In next screen Select radio-button 'hierarchical data model'.

6. In lead column only one characteristic is allowed , so select the hierachy-bearing characteristic.

7. In 3rd screen of layout builder, puch the button for 'lead column settings' in top-right corner.

8. Select the hierarchy column.

Hope this will help.

Hi Alessandro,

Planning with Hierarchy Nodes is quite simple. You will need to make sure of the following for a layout using the hierarchy characteristics

- You must include one characteristic at the most in the lead column of the planning layout and a hierarchy must have been defined for this characteristic

- You must have assigned one of these hierarchies in the planning level or package to the characteristic as a selection.

The process of entering plan data and updating to the nodes can done using the Distribute Function (Top Down distribution or Bottom Up distribution) depending on the requirement.

Hope this was of help or if it was something you already knew and did. Do you need any more specific details?
