A few ideas that come to my mind:
Did you move your current directory, e.g. from another window?
Is your current directory on a local disk, or is it mounted by NFS?
Are environment variables set properly?
It might help if you just logout, and login as orartq again.
What kind of Unix by the way?
Do other command like ls work in that directory?
Proper permissions for your current directory?
