Hi,

Are there any issues including a report built in CR 2008 into a CR XI application?

Thanks!

Hello,

As long as the report isn't using new functionality that is only available in CR2008 it will probably run just fine in CR XI. This isn't supported, but it should work.

Business Objects, SAP has never supported running newer reports (CR2008 is v12) with older runtime files (CR XI is v11.0). If you have any issues with the report the first thing to try is running an original CR XI report that has the same design, formulas, etc. If the CR XI report works, but the CR2008 report does not then you have your answer.

Sincerely,

We fully support running any version from CR 9 to CR 2008 in any version of the Designer. The only issues you will run into is opening a newer report version in an older Version of the SDK or Cr Designer. For example the CR XI introduced cascading Parameters, 9 and 10 are not aware of those so the report likely will not work properly and may cause an issue in the SDK, not knowing what to do with the new functions. It may even cause a GPF is you don't handle error trapping properly.

A quick test is to open the report up in CR Designer and make a change and then un-do the change and then try to save it. If the report is of a different version a warning message will pop up indicating the report was designed in a different version and you may lose functionality etc.

The only way to check the version of the report in an Application is to use RAS, CR Basic does not include RAS so it would require an upgrade to CR 2008 Developer version.
