Configuration for material variants in the project builder

Hi,

We are using the variant configuration for some time now and at the moment we are investigating the possibility of using material variants.

It is very important that we can further configure the material variant at order entry. This seems perfectly possible in sales order but it seems to be another story in the project builder. When a material variant is introduced on an activity, sap issues a message that the configuration can only be displayed.

Is their any possibility to override this message (enhancements, user exits) ? If you have any experience with this problem please let me know.
