Copying report design from excel

Hi,

Currently I have a report in Excel (with lots of static content and formating). I would like to design a similar report in Crystal reports. When I copy & paste the contents from the Excel file it pastes as an OLE Object and not text objects. Can you please let me know if there is a way to import a format from excel to CR designer?

I am currently evaluating CR Designer and the above functionality is key parameter for deciding on whether to purchase this tool.

Girish, there are two ways one is what you have mentioned as an OLE object and second could be used as a database table importing it via DAO.

I would suggest to use as an OLE object and when you bring it in paste it as a special paste so the it links to the excel file and when something is changed in excel it will reflect into CR too.

Alternatively you can always create similar sort of data by inserting a crosstab and use it as a base.
