DBNETLIB error during sapinst export.

We are testing the Homogeneous system copy via R3load in order to

perform an Unicode conversion.

The source system is Ecc60, with SQL Server 9.0.3042.

The export via

Sapinst fails with this error in phase 'Export Preparation':

"WARNING 2008-10-08 19:04:57.605

Cannot connect to the database server. Errors returned: [Microsoft]

[ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access

denied.

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect

()). Call your SAP Support."

The sapinst is started as sidadm user.

How solve the error ?

Must be your sql server was busy in executing the request ...

Can you restart the export?

No, I cannot.

The Sapinst abend at the beginning of the phase 'Export Preparation'.

I readn some blog about SQL Server it seems a problem related to "....the remote connections via TCP/IP that are disable by default...." but I do not where to enable this property.

Any advise ?

The SQL Server's Server connection properties, you can check it...

I did it but there is not a property like this.

Other blogs are talking about a wrong db string connection, but In my opinion the connection attemp made by sapinst should be ok.

The error is somewhere else.

other advises ?

Microsoft

ODBC SQL Server DriverDBNETLIBSQL Server does not exist or access denied.

with the above error one thing is clear, either the server does not exist( which is not possible) and other is access denied.

Need to check what userid does sapinst tries to connect and what password it uses...

I dont have any system to test Roberto.. but if I get any information, I will surely send you across.

Regards,
