Dear Experts,

Please explain the details at Specify files options in LSMW

I want to know about following options -

1) Legacy data on PC (Front end)

2) Legacy data on the R/3 server (Application Server)

3) Imported data File for imported data (Application server)

4) Converted data File for converted data (Application server)

5) Wild card value Value of wild card ' * * in file name.

Thanks in advance

1) Legacy data on PC (Front end)

-- defines that SAP shall find and upload the source file from your PCs Harddrive (can as well be a network drive)

2) Legacy data on the R/3 server (Application Server)

-- defines that the source file is to be found in the file system of your SAP system

I use this often when we merge SAP systems, so I can send IDOCs from old SAP system to new SAP system and output the IDOCs directly as file. This file can then be found in on the SAP application server. (you can display the SAP directories with AL11 transaction)

3) Imported data File for imported data (Application server)

- this is the internal file LSMW writes the data to when it uploads from PC or application server.

4) Converted data File for converted data (Application server)

- this is the internal file LSMW writes the data to when it converts from imported data file using the mapping rules.

5) Wild card value Value of wild card ' * * in file name.

- This allows you to use to use the same LSMW for many many similar files (e.g. if you migrate materials and you get extra files from each company) without the need to change the above entered names.
