Error 1706 Help

Former Member

We have recently gone through a computer lease changeout and the new computers that are running the embedded CRD in VB6 are receiving an error 1706 no valid source ...

We are running CR 10 upgrade. When I install I tell it to install all components and insert the 8.5 disc.

Reports designed outside of VB6 and run within forms work fine.

We have done other searches and tried the Windows Installer repair program and that did not correct the problem.

Would appreciate a quick response.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

What happens if another user logs onto your machine (the local admin account would be a good test)?

Have you tried on some other machine?

Have you applied any runtimes?

Try with this:

Thanks for the link.

Following the eventvwr errors it looks like these are the two warnings:

Detection of product '{A0DB4D2C-E85B-4C23-A4F2-F1B95D3C3BE8}', feature 'RDC', component '{3398E450-B749-11D4-97EB-00D0B71A822C}' failed. The resource 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\bin\Cache\' does not exist.

and

Detection of product '{A0DB4D2C-E85B-4C23-A4F2-F1B95D3C3BE8}', feature 'RDC' failed during request for component '{40216E4F-3A4A-11D3-B33E-00A0C9DA500E}'

Doesn't mean much for the second one.

To answer some of your questions, yes we have logged in as different users, including the machine administrator and as a normal user with administrative rights. With same errors.

I went to the location in the first error and created the folder that was missing. I don't get that error, but now I get:

Detection of product '{A0DB4D2C-E85B-4C23-A4F2-F1B95D3C3BE8}', feature 'RDC', component '{277128CD-106A-4A6D-8AC9-3265C1777543}' failed. The resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Visual Basic\6.0\Designers\{BD4B4E61-F7B8-11D0-964D-00A0C9273C2A}\' does not exist.

I have tried on multiple machines.

What runtimes are you refering to?

We do have a separate install for a crystal reports runtime that is installed prior to Crystal 10.
