Hi Kiran,

Thanks for the link.

The slide 14 contains the limitations of the old Bw authorizations. One of the limitations is

Maintenance: Not changeable afterwards

Can any one explain what it means. Does it mean we cannot change roles once we implent it.

Thanks.

Perhaps you could indicate how much you know already and what your opinion on some of the pro's and con's are, and then we can discuss it further?

Otherwise you might just be bombarded with links to SAPHelp....

Cheers,

Julius

Hi,

I know how to create roles in the BW and in the BI security.

In BI I know how to create analysis authorization using RSECADMIN and include it in the roles using the S_RS_AUTH object.

Actually I wanted to know what is the advantage of moving to analysis authorization . Like is there any performance improvement in authorization checks, can we implement any new kind of security using analysis authorization that we cannot do in the old BW security.

Thanks.

Hi Neha,

Please check the following Presentaion from Marc Bernard on BI Security and Authorizations. This also tells you how BI Security is more advanced than BW Security. There are certainly more advantages of securing BI reports with BI 7.0 Authorizations over the traditional BW Authorization concepts.

Hope this helps.

Neha,

When you create a custom Authorization object using RSSM you cannot modify(edit) the custom authorization object it later. where as in BI using RSECADMIN we create analysis authorization object which can be later changed on fly.

Hi-

The technical upgrade from BW to BI has not seen providing any real value to Business and SAP BW Users. However, there are some key components of BI 7 that can be activated to leverage some enhanced functionality of BI.

The components are:

1. Portal - Deliver web metrics reports & publish reports to the BI Portal

2. Information Broadcasting - Enable an existing SOX report to be burst and binded and sent to a distribution list.

3. Visual Composer - Create a small report for PMO that accesses data from multiple data sources including non SAP.

4. Pre-Calculation Server - Create a workbook that takes one of our queries with the most calculations so that calculations happen offline.

These are some quick wins. There are many things which need drill down.

Cheers!
