Hi Folks,
We want some disaster recovery mechanism for our iSeries servers. However keeping in mind the iSeries environment, purchasing another iSeries Hardware will be quite costly.
I am looking for an idea wherein we can obtain the DRS at comparatively low cost. Thought of Heterogeneous copy but wont be a DRS in actual sense.
Can someone suggest any method? Need it badly.
Regards,
Nick
Hi Nick,
As heterogeneous requires a full DB export, which in turn requires the source system (iSeries) to be available, and no other DBMS can read/apply log (journaling entries) of iSeries, it is not a valid option to use this method as DRS.
Eric's suggestion is widely used by SAP-iSeries customers. Many of them put DEV/QAS/TST/TRN and the replication of PRD on one iSeries, so only two iSeries machines are needed for whole SAP landscape.
Best regards,
Victor

you can build a poor-man<s DRP.
put your QAS systems in geographic place, and use it as your PRD-DRP system in case of disaster.
