Quantity not updating in storage location

Dear one and all,

For a Sales order and Delivery order , System has not reduced the entire qty from a storage location after making the invoice. System reduced only part qty. The balance qty is still remaining in the storage location.

Plz guide what all needs to be checked.

One last question -

I have an order wherein there are some physical items:

- they are not value/text/service items

- item cat/sch line cat automatically determined

- sch line cat is relevant for deliv but not for MRP (no movement type defined) in customization

- there Goods Movement Status is showing as complete (C) in Delivery

- there doc flow is showing as "confirmation of service"

- all the items are completely delivered & invoiced

- no batch split is occuring

How will you keep track of such items (in storage loc.)? Why would you have such items?

Dear Sharad

As I said earlier, for your schedule line category, if you maintain movement type, while doing PGI, a material document will also be generated in the background through which the stocks can be monitored. On the other hand, in some cases, if you just want to do delivery and PGI without checking the stock, then in that case, this will be useful.

For example, a manufacturer receives an order for a new item and due to some production contraints, he may not be maintianing Production BOM for that salable item and at the time of invoicing, system should not check the stock. So in this case, what you have to do is that item category TAX and the relevant schedule line category should be assigned in IMG.

If no movement type is determined but delivery is happening for items, will the stock of such items get updated?. For me, it should get updated. But it is not reflecting in MB51. Then what is the procedure to check stocks for such items.

How can goods movement happen without movement type? There will be a movement type associated with PGI.

Material document is generated with the same quantities as in the delivery.

Is generation of mat. document enough proof that storage location is getting reduced by that much quantity?

Is there any other method to verify that stock has reduced?

Also if no movement type is determined for a item (but it is relevant for delivery), will the stock get updated? (I have some items like that for which no movement type is determined and there document flow is showing as "Confirmation of service")

For any line item, if the movement type is not assigned to the respective schedule line category in VOV6, then in document flow, system will give "Confirmation of service".

So check the schedule line category what is flowing for the line items which gives the above in document flow.

With regard to cross check of stock, run T.Code MB51 where it will give the break up of material document and movement type as well.

Billing has got nothing to do with quantity changes and the moment you do PGI, quantity will be reduced from the storage location in that plant.

Check the material document that got genrated when PGI is done.
