Hi Anirban,

SRM can directly talk with XI with xml messages.

Usually XI is used to integrate SRM with any other SAP systems. And the communications will be usually with RFC on both the sides.

And you can use http adapter also on SRM side.

Hi Krishna,

So RFC would be used extensively thats what you want to emphasis? Any extra features that was not in sap xi 3.0 but there in SRM Part of xi (Please correct me if i am wrong).

Regards and thanks,

Anirban.

Hi Anirban,

If your going to connect SRM and R/3 using XI , SRM uses Proxy and in XI you need to configure the XI adapter for this and on the R/3 side it would be RFC/ IDOC.

XI 3.0 has SRM contents which has the Maping for the Standard scenario in SRM and which uses SUS.

let me know if this answered your question.

Hi Anirban -

SRM, like many other mySAP Business Suite applications, provides standard XI Content. You can download that content from here:

http://service.sap.com/swdc then

Support Packages and Patches->SAP Application Components->SAP SRM (WITH SAP EBP)

Then you go to the specific content version, depending on what SRM release you're on.

As Shree mentioned, SRM communicates to XI via proxies. SRM comes delivered with outbound and inbound proxies already generated in the SRM system corresponding to the standard XI content that you import into the Integration Repository.

Talking to R/3 will generally be IDoc, RFC, or proxy as well. By taking a look at the XI content, you can generally tell what the message protocol will be for a particular scenario.

Finally, SRM is used frequently to talk to 3rd party suppliers outside the intranet. A business XML document standard is usually used like cXML or xCBL. That means that a mapping from "SAP-XML" (within SRM) must be mapped to the required standard and vice versa. This usually involves the HTTP adapter and possibly the SOAP adapter. It requires SSL as well.

Hope that helps.

Hi Jin And Shree,

You emphasished on <i>XI 3.0 has SRM contents which has the Maping for the Standard scenario in SRM and which uses SUS</i>

Can you please emphasis on this a bit more or any link or weblogs or pdf would be great. Mapping for standard scenario.

Thanks,

Anirban.

There are some documents(cookbooks) available in service.sap.com.

I think that will help u on this front.

And also you will get Mapping XSLs with predelivered content.

Hi Anirban -

The best thing to do is go to the link and path I specified before and download the SRM-XI content relevant to your SRM release. Download it and import it into your XI system and take a look. You'll see the delivered message interfaces, message types, data types, and, of course, the mappings that SAP delivers.

Other than that, as Krishna mentioned, there are some guides on the service marketplace. The applicable business scenario configuration guides contain the information regarding XI specific config. Here are a few:

http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700002897402004E/ServiceProcurementNEW.pdf

http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700002897382004E/Plan-DrivenwithSInew.pdf

http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700002897342004E/CCMConfig10_01_05.pdf

http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700003992672005E/Config_Guide_CCM200_640doc.pdf

Also, keep in mind that if your requirements dictate for you to deviate a little (a lot) from the standard SRM-XI content, you should do it in your own SWC. You shouldn't modify the delivered content. You can leverage the existing content by creating a dependency to it from your SWC. Just a side note.

Hi Anirban -

Yes, there is one for Self Service Procurment as well:

https://websmp201.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700002897392004E/ConGuiSSPFinVer0812.pdf

This doesn't really contain XI specific settings information however. Regardless, if necessary, it shouldn't be too different from the others.

You can get these and other SRM related info from the http://service.sap.com/srm or as Krishna mentioned from http://service.sap.com/ibc.
