In our United States operations, we have been running fully integrated (FICO, MM, PP) since our implementation in 1998. We have a foreign subsidiary with third party FICO and MM software that wants to run SAP Plant Maintenance as a standalone module. They want work orders for equipment repair tracking purposes and preventive maintenance scheduling. They may or may not want MM functionality.
Does anyone have experience with standalone SAP Plant Maintenance they are willing to share?
Thanks in advance,
Tom Moore
Tom,
Generally speaking, you wouldn't buy SAP for the PM module only.. One of the main strengths of SAP is its integration.
However, since you already have SAP, I don't see any reason why you cannot run a stand-alone PM module with or without FI/CO and/or MM. You will need to ensure that the configuration reflects these requirements.

there is no reason why this cannot be done
in of my implementations this has been done in one SAP instance where PM was used only for notification/ order processing and also for preventive maintenance
the client had two instances of SAP - the second instance was the where the FICO etc were housed, we had interfaces going into the FI system for vendor payment based on completion of orders from the first instance.
However the two instances are not required. In one instance you can house the standalone PM functionality as a seperate plant etc
