Discussions in XI 3.0 and 3.1

We have a customer who would like more detail on report discussions.

They are interested in accessing the discussions, and potential making them part of the report for distribution outside of the XI platform.

In BEx Query analyzer, they can attach comments to the individual cells of data. We obviously can't do this in Webi or Crystal, but they have asked to able to distribute the discussion on the reports.

Where are the discussions stored in the XI?

Hello Steve,

Discussions will probably be stored along with the rest of the metadata in the CMS database. Though the database can be accessed with any suitable client, the data itself is not readable.

If you need direct access to the discussions, I would suggest having a look at the SDK to see if anything is available there to help you.

Discussions - notes attached to reports in InfoView - are not within the public API of the BusinessObjects Enterprise SDK.

There's no way to directly manage or export the contents of discussions.
